The majority of air travelers prefer to see fares, fees and taxes listed as one total cost, according to surveys conducted by The GO Group, LLC, an international ground transportation service provider and GO Airport Express, a GO member and Chicago-based ground transportation company serving O’Hare International and Midway airports.
The survey was conducted in response to the proposed Transparent Airfares Act, which would allow airlines to quote fares that excludes taxes and fees, until immediately before the final purchase. Consumer groups say this would allow airlines to promote misleadingly low prices. The public seems to agree.
More than 934 travelers responded to the survey. Fifty-eight percent said they want to see all the total cost in one place; Less than two percent answered prefer to see the fares without taxes and 40 percent said they would prefer to see a breakdown of all costs listed separately.
“This indicates that travelers want a simple way to shop for air fares and to make sure they are comparing apples to apples when doing so,” says John McCarthy, president, GO Airport Express . “
GO Airport Express provides airport shuttles to and from O’Hare International and Midway Airports.
One of the oldest companies in Chicago, GO Airport Express traces its founding to 1853 and the Parmelee Transportation Company, which provided a carriage service between Chicago’s railroad stations and the downtown hotels. The GO Group, LLC is a one-stop source for door-to-door airport shuttle services. Its members transport some 13 million passengers to and from some 66 airports in the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe annually.
