Although airfares are expected to rise this fall, almost half of those who responded to a recent survey are not planning on changing their travel plans during the remaining months in 2014, compared with the same time last year.
More than 712 people responded to a survey conducted by The GO Group, LLC, an international ground transportation service provider and GO Airport Express, a GO member and Chicago-based ground transportation company serving O’Hare International and Midway airports.
Just under 50 percent of respondents said they plan on traveling the same amount for leisure and 46 percent for business, despite the higher fares during this time.
Five percent said they planned on traveling more frequently and 10 percent noted they would be traveling less. Thirty-nine percent said they didn’t know yet whether or not their leisure of business travel would be affected by the expected fare increases.
“These results indicate that raising air fares does not automatically translate into a decrease in travel,” says John McCarthy, president, GO Airport Express . “Overall, this is good news for the hospitality business.”
