Northwest suburban residents now have a new low-cost option for getting to O’Hare aboard GO Airport Express’ newly launched service.
The ground transportation company is offering scheduled pickups to more than 40 hotels in five suburban communities, including Arlington Heights, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Palatine and Schaumburg, at rates as much as 60 percent below current taxi and private car fares.
The service can be used by individuals or groups who are dropped off at the designated hotels. Pickups from participating hotels must be scheduled in advance by calling 888-2THEVAN (888.284.3826)) or by making an online reservation at www.airportexpress.com.
Reservations from O’Hare back to the hotels are recommended, but not necessary as vans leave the airport to the suburbs on a regularly scheduled basis. Plans call for expanding the service to additional suburbs in early 2009.
“We believe that this service will be popular with budget-conscious travelers as well as those who are environmentally conscious and wish to conserve fuel and reduce emissions by taking a shared ride to the airport,” says John McCarthy, president.
Chicago-based GO Airport Express operates more than 150 vehicles providing shared ride service to and from Chicago’s airports.
Founded in 1853 as the Parmelee Transportation Company, GO Airport Express currently transports more than 1 million passengers annually to and from Chicago’s O’Hare and Midway Airports. Its door-to-door services are offered to and from downtown Chicago, as well as most Chicago neighborhoods and its surrounding suburbs. It is also a founding member of the GO Group, LLC. offering transportation from more than 100 airports worldwide. For more information or to book transportation online visit www.airportexpress.com.
