Three Women Recognized as Honored Role Models

On March 23, three Chicago area women were recognized as “Honored Role Models” at the 13th annual Airport Express “Heroes in the Hood” program held at the DuSable Museum. The recipients are Angela T. Ingram, vice president of communications, Clear Channel Chicago; Wynona Redmond, director of public affairs, Dominick’s Fine Foods and Carol Sagers, director of US marketing, McDonalds USA. They were selected for their outstanding professional achievements and commitment to community service.

The Airport Express “Heroes in the Hood” program honors and rewards Chicago youth for their volunteer efforts. Participants have tutored children, organized community events, visited senior citizens, initiated fundraisers, and worked with other youth who have physical disabilities. The winners received a prize package that includes an all expense paid trip to the state capital in Springfield. Additionally, in their acceptance speeches, each honored role model praised the youth for their achievements and encouraged them to continue with their education and volunteer activities.

“Heroes in the Hood” was created by Airport Express to honor area youth for positively contributing their time and efforts to strengthening the Chicago community. Other sponsors include The Chicago Crusader, WGCI, the DuSable Museum, Walgreen, Co. and Dominick’s Fine Foods. For more information or applications, call 312.666.6662.
